Hissing at idle
My truck hisses very loudly at idle, does anyone know why this my be? It's just a mild 350 with an Edelbrock air cleaner. I thought the air cleaner might be making that sound because of the air getting sucked in, but other cars I've had with open elements don't sound like that. No vacuum leaks that I can see...

Re: Hissing at idle
My '71 C-10 with a stock 350 with a Q-jet and Edelbrock air cleaner also has a noticiable hiss at idle. It was a lot worse before I plugged off the open pipe underneath the air cleaner.
I am not sure how long it was ran that way by the po. Danny - SEMO |

Re: Hissing at idle
I have the a place where that pipe goes but the hole was never knocked out so the air cleaner is sealed except for the actual element...

Re: Hissing at idle
It really sounds like a vacuum leak. Brake Booster? The vacuum advance might have gone bad on the distributor..
