6 cyl guys ?

Will a V8 shroud from one of our trucks fit on one of our trucks with a 6 cyl in it? I got a guy asking me that and I don't know for sure. Thanks Randy

Re: 6 cyl guys ?

All I know is they didn`t come that way. There was no shroud on I6s from factory that I`ve seen.I`ve never had an a/c 6cyl,so I don`t know. The ones I`ve seen just had a metal guard over the fan.

6 cyl. radiators are not as wide as a V-8 rad.

Re: 6 cyl guys ?

I had one on a 6 auto years ago that was similar to the v-8. All I remember is that it wasn't as deep. It was probably more narrow also like Spray bomb said. I've only seen a few of the shrouds like that and they were always on automatic trucks.

Re: 6 cyl guys ?

I have one on my Panel. At the time, I was going to put a V-8 in it but I needed a new radiator, so I got the wider V-8 rad. My main donor was a was a '68 'Burb w/ auto, so I used that shroud. I need to move my fan back to the proper location in the shroud, but other than that it works fine. If notheing else, it keeps me from sticking my fingers into the fan.

Re: 6 cyl guys ?

I've got one on mine but I've got a V-8, radiator in it too... I dunno about the 6cyl radiators being skinnier, but I have heard that before a couple of times tho. So I would bet it's a no, unless he was willing to fabricate/zip tie it in place which might look alright. Putting a V-8 radiator in it is an option too. If he doesn't want to jack with it, he can also put an electric fan or two in FRONT of the radiator wired to push the air along with the factory fan. (assuming cooling is the issue).

Re: 6 cyl guys ?

They are right...run the v8 radiator and the fan shroud will fit. It moves the mounts out and the shroud bolts up just like on the v8.

Re: 6 cyl guys ?

Yeah-maybe skinny is not the right word. The I-6 rads are narrower, left to right. I had to move the rad supports to the outer set of holes. If you look, there are inner and outer holes for the top mounts in plain site, so it is pretty easy to go from one to the other.

Re: 6 cyl guys ?

Pritch you got that right, when you said that it reminded me that I saw the same thing on mine because I had the radiator out last night......

Re: 6 cyl guys ?

Thanks guys, I passed along the info to him. I knew I never seen a plastic shroud on a 6 cylinder before but wanted to check. Randy
