Question Speedo gear replacement...

My speedometer does not work on my 72 C20. The cable is okay. It does not spin when I drive down the road though. I have been told there is a plastic gear in the transmission (TH350) that can break then the speedo doesn't work. Is this true? If so, how do I replace it and where can I get a new one?

Thanks
Scott

Re: Speedo gear replacement...

GM has the gears but make sure the little housing that holds the gear is not worn out and allowing the gears to miss each other. The tranny output shaft also has a plastic gear which is servicable through the tailhousing
