Cool thinkin about a trade

This is my first post, anyhow a friend of mine deals in alot of old cars and trucks. Most of the of them either have been restored or street rodded. He has one warehouse that has between 80 to a 100 cars and trucks in it and I was walkin thru it admirin some them when I came upon a 1962 Chevy Impala SS with 64000 original miles.I asked him if he might be interested in a trade for my 69 chevy truck? We talked for some time about it and then he told me he was flyin out to California to look at a couple of cars to buy to bring back east and he would let me know when he got back next Tuesday the 19th.I guess my question is what everybody thinks-good or bad idea? I have a 1969 chevy swb fleetside with 350/400,4&6 lowered,17'' wheels and tires, runs and sounds good. I tried to upload some pictures of my truck,Guess I ain't smart enough about computers yet!

I'm in Putnam Co, where do you live? Sounds like you buddy has a good inventory. The 62 should be worth more soit depends how much boot he wants. My buddy traded a 31 Chevy street rod for a 57 pickup and got 4k. If you close maybe we can meet sometime Later Weasel

Re: thinkin about a trade

I told him only way I would trade is even, considerin I got all my money in my '69. The impala has been setting for couple of years. We tried to start it and it didn't want to run,you could smell it had bad gas,and the carb was leakin pretty bad to! There is no rust on the car.and does have a old set of Boyds wheels on it.

'62 with that kind of mileage, unmolested and rust free as you imply would be worth much more than just about any truck used as a daily driver...not knocking your truck...just going from "Barret Jackson" kind of spin on things. If says yes and even if that '62 does not run...I would go for it.

Re: thinkin about a trade

I've shopping around for an Impala so I think I kinda have a feel for the prices. Unless you find a BB fact A/C posi 4sp convertible you see a lot of low mid 20K price tags. If you look at completed auctions on Ebay it seems that the high teens/low 20K are about all they get up to without meeting the reserve. Really nice drivers even with low miles can be bought for high teens. Of course you are going to see them with 30-30K and higher price tags but that doesn't mean they are going to get it. There was a 59 Impala on ebay last week that reached 70K and the reserve wasn't met. And it had a 6cyl. So anyway, long story short. It's going to depend on how nice your truck is and what the two of you can come to terms on.

Re: thinkin about a trade

it takes two people wnating your car for it to reach 70k, that or a really dumb bidder, because if it only birngs 1500, his reserve is 3500, then you can haggle usually, thenagain i deal with street cars not restored ones.
