Backup Light Switch Install.....

I just installed a borg warner ( orileys auto parts ) backup light switch on my 1972 automatic column. heres the method i used.
1.put shifter in reverse ( engine and switch off )
2.unplug the plugs from the switch.
3.remove the two screws from the rear of the switch ( 1/4" deep well socket )
4. remove switch.
look at switch and you,ll see the positioner in the switch is centered on the plug for the 2 green wires.
5. set new switch in same position.
6. put your finger in slot on column where switch goes and you,ll feel a thin blade sticking up that slot in switch needs to go over. install switch on the blade.
7. install the screws again , push switch towards firewall as far as it will go ,tighten screws down till switch will barely move.
8.connect both sets of wires again
9. turn ignition on and check backup lights to make sure there lit up , if not turn switch slowly till they come on.
10. turn ignition off !!!!!!
11. tighten the 2 screws ( dont strip em )
12. now put shifter in park and start truck.
13. put shifter in reverse and recheck for backup lights
14. put shifter in neutral
15. shut engine off and recrank in neutral.
if all checks work switch is aligned properly and your done.
this is my method
bob in tn.
