Welcome from Kansas City, KS. Anything will due, however it will not be a direct bolt-in swap. I wouldn't suggest putting a Camaro rear-end in a 3/4 ton truck. Anything from '60-late 70's will work, however you may have to make some changes to the shock mounts and Panhard bar mount. Why not find a direct replacement and save yourself the fab issues? Good luck with your search. There will be several suggestions from fellow posters, that have done this swap successfully. Tony |

To be able to give advise, a little more info is needed. Do you want to keep it 3/4 ton? what are your plane for your new truck?

Re: advise on a diferential
If it has 8 lug nuts, it is a 3/4 ton. If that is the case, yours would be most likely be an Eaton rear differential....very few had Dana 60 rear differentials. The Dana 60's seemed to be more common in the '67-72's. Any rear differential in a 2wd 3/4 ton up thru 1972 will be a bolt in. The Eaton diffs are more difficult to find parts for when needed, so i would recommend looking for a Dana 60. If you or someone you know have welding and fabrication skills, you could install most any differential that you want. If you were to install a 14 bolt differential ( introduced in 1973, and still used to this day AFAIK) it is aprox 1 1/2" wider than the original. Which depending on your tire and wheel choice, could present clearance issues with the inside of the outter fender.

Re: advise on a diferential
not to jack your thread but another question with diffs is that can you just swap gears as long as the housing boltage is the same?

Re: advise on a diferential
You can swap the gears, but they need to be re-setup(or atleast checked)for proper tooth contact and backlash. As long as you stay in the same family you'll be alright... ie: truck 12 bolt to truck 12 bolt, truck 10 bolt to truck 10 bolt, etc. That is unless you're dealing with a diff that has a removable 3rd member such as a 9 inch or the above mentioned Eaton, just to name a couple. With those you can just swap the whole 3rd member.
