Question VIN, suspension and Radiator Questions

I've got a 67 GMC Small Window pickup that's had some modifications.
1st question - VIN doesn't match to decoder on the site, CM1570C.
2nd question - Looking at the rear suspension and what I've seen in cataloges, I'm not sure of the frame. It's got leaf springs, no coil or control arms.
3rd question - Needing to upgrade radiator and looking for a new replacement, it has a 350 with a T350 and AC.
Thanks for the help.

Re: VIN, suspension and Radiator Questions

GMCs have different vins...dont use a chevy vin decoder
Most GMCs had leaf spring rear suspension,some chevy 1/2 and 3/4 tons did but not alot.

The 67 GMC Vin's are an odd duck but can be decoded once you know what they were doing back then.

Not sure if your looking at the model number in the glove box or if your reading the tag on the door post?
But anyway they can be the same in some cases.

So here's what the decode is of what you posted.

C = Conventional Cab
M = V6 engine originally
1 = 1/2 ton suspension
57 = cab to rear axle dimension of 54 inches.
0C = Step side box.

Your next letter in your vin should be the assembly plant identification,
so it will be typically one of the following
P for Pontiac
F for Flint
Z for Fremont
1 for Oshawa

Then year of GMC identified as a "C" to identify the year of 67...the rest is just the sequence number.

And that's the GMC dance.

As for the frame...leafs in the rear were available in a 67 GMC.

As for the RAD it will all interchage if you get a rad for any other 67-72 year...you might look at 3 core or better still a 4 core if you have AC. When getting the rad off a used truck for parts...get the hold downs off the top of rad to rad cradle and get the lower rubber blocks also that are on the lower section of the rad cradle. The 4 core are longer mounting and rubber bushings than the 3 core so you need 4 core stuff if going 4 core.

Re: VIN, suspension and Radiator Questions

Thx for the information Rod, that helps me alot. 4 core will be they way I go, we the Tx heat and A/C. With the truck having a 4 speed standard, what I was told. What gearing do you think it came with in the rearend. The gearing is superlow for the 3 speed auto and will need to get it changed.
