Rear end Help... Brakes

I have a 5 lug rear end from a 1/2 ton 1971 chevy truck that when I purchased it I was told was a complete rear end.

Unfortunatly I puled the drums the other day and all the brake mechanisims are missing from the rear end. Well almost everything... the wheel cylinders are stillthere as well as the e- brake lines.

Is there a doner truck where I can get the missing brackets, I am sure I will use a new spring kit but from what donor or what parts store can I get the adjuster and the other items that dont come with these kits. Will the parts from a 73-87 truck fit the axle?

there is no complete spring kits available..... all of them are partial kits. go figure...... i just went through this the past 3 days. better find a donor vehicle for some of the parts that arnt in the kit.

Slow, slow, slow...Slowrielly's!!! I don't know if they have them in your area, but O' Rielly's, Autozone, Bumper to bumper have the parts you need (although prob not in stock). You need a hardware kit and the adjuster kit. The kit from O'Rielly's for the adjuster comes with the adjuster, springs, arm and the little pivoting du-dad. The hardware kit comes with everything else. I can get part numbers if that helps...

Yeah, that would be great if you could... I could walk in and get them to order them or do it on line.

Here is mine after rebuild.



The kit i got came with everthing except the plungers for the wheel cylinder, the washer on the top that goes behind the two springs, the e-brake lever, and the rod on the top with the spring on it. The rod with the spring is the black one not the orange one. Everything else was included with my kit. Raybestos puts out the kit.

By the way i did tighten up the gaps on the ends of the springs after i took this picture.
