Ever had luck repairing bent alloy rims...Can they be fixed?

have bent inside rim that won't allow pressure above 20lbs. Local tire shop won't touch it for fear of "cracking" it. Anyone have luck repairing these or some tips?

I seen a shop on TV on a show loke 2 Guy's Garage or one of those types of shows.

That is what they specialize in but, I can't remember the name so there is a place that can do it. maybe try Google search for something along those lines.

REPAIRING ALLOY WHEELS or something. They even did broken wheels.

Wish I remembered more info for you

Yes it can be done, i had a set of lightning wheels repairs few years ago here in OKC and they looked new. Thinking 125 was what i paid also but at that time they wouldn't repiar if missing part was more than about 4 inches.

Re: Ever had luck repairing bent alloy rims...Can they be fixed?

There is a place in the Dallas area that repairs alloy rims. A buddy had a BMW Z-3, that had a bent rear rim. He went to the dealer in LR and bought a new one. I told him about the place. He went back to the dealer to retrieve his bent rim, and one of the mechanics had scarfed it up....but had to cough it up. So, my buddy sent the rim to Dallas, had it repaired ($125) and they sent it back to him. They polished it and reconditioned the finish so that it looked like new.

I have a four Mitsubishi 16x7 rims that came off of my daughter's '95 Turbo ragtop. She ran off the road, and bent two of them. I couldn't find any more in Arkansas, and the nearest ones were on the east coast. There is an insurance grading system that is based on the condition. Seems like an A is best, and these were B-2's, meaning not perfect @ $150 each plus shipping. I passed on them, bought four new wheels and never looked back. Now I have two good wheels and two that can be repaired, and nothing to put them on. But they have the same bolt pattern as a Camry.

Up here in Canada i use to machine welded up rims for a company before they got their own lathe. They also repair bent rims so im sure you will find someone in your neck of the woods that can do it to.Ask the tire shops or car delerships who they use.

Re: Ever had luck repairing bent alloy rims...Can they be fixed?

my daily driver is a 98' jeep grand cherokee that i purchased wrecked with 250 miles on it. one of the alloy rims was broken and for $100 bucks i bought a
"remanufactured wheel" (the dealer wanted $400) that was back in 99' and i have never had any problems with 100,000+ miles. the guys that fix them are pro's.
