Rare Paint Scheme

Saw this truck on Ebay and the owner says it is original paint.
special paint code 4001zg.
I have seen some green and yellow reversed schemes but this is the first blue and White factory paint I have seen. I would say that this one is pretty darn rare

Re: Rare Paint Scheme

One of our janitors has a 73 with that exact same scheme, don't think I've seen an earlier one like that though.

Re: Rare Paint Scheme

That is rare.I don`t think that blue was even an offered color, let alone the white being used as the body color and not the accent color.I dig that tool box.You never see those anymore.

Re: Rare Paint Scheme

You could get it shot in any combo of any normal colors you wanted. I had seen one when i lived in Tx, all original and ugly as sin, it was red as the main body color, and urin yellow as the secondary.

Re: Rare Paint Scheme

Yeah, I found Tx to be worse than Louisasna, worse than Georgia, worse than KOREA!
Ohio was home, I grew up here from kindergarden age to graduation. Coming home wasn't the best choice, but it sure beat staying in Texas.
Sorry to rag on your state, but you opened that can.

I WILL admit, there are plenty of thins I do miss... but not nearly enough to warrent staying there.

Your opinion of Ohio seems low... what do you base it off of?
I base my opinion of Tx from living there for 7 years. (again, granted, it was in one area)

that's just because you lived in the ft. hood/temple/killeen area. kind of the armpit of texas, imo. waco only a little better (i know, 'cause growing up, if we wanted to "do" anything, shop, or see a movie, we had to drive 40mi. to go to waco.)
the rest of the state is a bit better...generally.

There is a truck with that color scheme in my neighborhood, i believe. it looks very similar. where is the ebay one located? i see it has tx plates.

Re: Rare Paint Scheme

That baby blue isn`t a production color. And,the truck is a COPO,notice codes. The dealer ordering book only offer white as the accent in a two-tone with white. You could get Medium Olive as an accent or visa-versa either with Grapefruit or Dark Olive.Anything else is an exception,or COPO.Notice the "Cheyenne Super Sport" or Custom Blue Cloth in a Super. The codes are way different from production codes.
Yeah,rare.

Re: Rare Paint Scheme

Back when these trucks were being built, one didn't have to adhere to a pain/upholstery combo chart that was like law. If you wanted a green exterior and the interior to be red, all you had to do was check it off. Fleet colors could be specified or any other color as long as you checked the right box when it was ordered. That pix looks like a '73 color combo to me. Maybe he set the curve and GM decided it looked good enough.

Re: Rare Paint Scheme

My special paint code for lime green is 4001YC..weird. Wonder if this was part of some promotion or something? Our codes are pretty similar.

Re: Rare Paint Scheme

HeavyD,that`s a COPO #.Is just the "special paint" an off number,or are the others 3 digit with 1 letter and 2 numbers(normal)?

Uh, not exactly clear what you are asking so here's a pic of my SPID to compare with the other one above. Excuse the mouse urine all over it.

Re: Rare Paint Scheme

Yeah, see? You`re special paint code is a COPO#(CentralOfficeProductionOrder),because it wasn`t offered in the regular line of options. The code for a regular production color would have 1 letter and 2 numbers like all the other options. All TH350 and TH400 trans`are M49s.This baby blue and white truck has a different code. You`re right, your Canadian-built truck carries the same codes as the US-built trucks. That first option# (SP0042)in the left column has no option description to it`s right. That designates that your truck was a special production order.

Ah, I see. That blue trucks codes are all large, unlike mine. Very interesting.
