Did our trucks have an underhood light option?

I have a new GM under hood light assembly with the mercury switch and all for a mid '70's car tha looks vintage. Did any of our trucks have that as an option? Im gonna put it on but just wondering if anyone had seen one factory installed before....

Re: Did our trucks have an underhood light option?

I peeled the trunk light off of my '64 Bonneville, back in '71, thinking I might use it someday. Still haven't. It has three screws that mount to the trunk lid, and there is a reel within the light housing that allowed you it to reach from the trunk to either front tire. There is a mercury switch in the bracket assy.

Yeah, I might put that in my truck. The firewall mounted light on my '96 doesn't work....but that's normal I am told.

they were never an option on these trucks acording to the books.
Personally, i never liked them, all they do is shine light in my eye. It's the very first thing i unplug when I open a hood at work.

Never seen a VIN-spec sheet with one listed. Not listed in the dealer order book(or whatever it`s called:rolleyes).Never seen a truck with it.It would be cool at a cruise-in with a colored light, huh? If I get under a hood at night, whatever`s wrong won`t be under that light,I gaurantee.
