Replacing Freon in a '72 C-20 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey there,

My husband has replaced the compressor in his truck, and now needs to add the freon...the only problem is, is that the specs have been taken off, and he is unsure as to how much he needs to add. Anyone have knowledge about this? Thanks!!

The truck system capacity is 3 lbs. 12 ozs. If it is a Suburban with rear AC then it is 4 lbs. 8 ozs.

I assume that it is empty since the compressor was changed.
