In Bed Fuel Tanks
I've seen the pic's of the fuel cells dropped between the frame and think that's a cool mod but what about some pictures of fuel tanks mounted in the beds.
Anybody have any pictures of how they mounted their's in the bed instead of under it? I definitely want to move the fuel tank out of the cab and I'm looking for different ideas right now of where to put it. Thanks in advance. |

I seen one recently with the gas tank in a diamond plated tool box. The in bed style that doesnt hang on the rails. Thats the way im going with mine. It will be nice to have it out of the cab, but will be locked up out of sight from someone stealing your gas.

I have a fuel cell in my bed. 20 gallon JEGS tank in my front passengers corner, just cut a hole for the drop down (fuel pickup), built a box to drop in the hole, and mounted her up.
I am actually planning to build a tank for under the bed, as I'm annoyed with the cell in the bed and the pain it is to fill. I can get pics once I have more time.

I have a 12 gal fuel cell in my '69. When I bought the truck the factory fuel tank had already been removed and needing a "get it on the road asap" state of mind I pulled the sumped fuel cell from my '68 drag car and cut a hole for the sump and hooked it up. There is a downside..refueling sucks, not having a sender sucks,just plain SUCKS. It works, don't get me wrong...I ordered a Blazer tank from the military surplus and just waiting on it to get here, then the tank goes to ebay. If it had a sender and was larger it would not be near as bad.

Once upon a time, I entertained using one of these....
http://www.rdsaluminum.com/images/combo_page.pdf I figured I needed a tool box & liked having the tank centrally located (much like the in cab gas tank) wasn't a bad thing, but still got it out of the cab. The models that would fit our trucks are 30 ~ 50gal & even have a place for a sending unit which many don't. The tool box lid locks but they're the cheap kind of generic locks that you see pryed open all the time. Not perfect, but another option. I've seen them @ Northern stores for around $500.
