Production Numbers 1969 Camper Custom
I am having a hard time finding out production numbers of a 1969 GMC camper custom. Is it true, were all documents burnt in a fire?? Could someone please just give me an idea of what the production numbers might be? 1969 GMC camper custom 1 ton 396 big block, 4 speed, A/C, full gauges with fuel economy gauge, dual saddle tanks, rear air bags. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks 69 Camper Custom Last edited by 69 camper custom; 06-27-2007 at 07:32 AM. |

Re: Production Numbers 1969 Camper Custom
the custom camper in GMCs could be 2 seperate trucks.
Is yours an 8 foot bed with the custom camper option package? Or is it the 8 1/2 foot bed truck, also known as a longhorn? Either way, you'll never find any production numbers, they have in deed been lost, fire, flood, poor book keeping, no one will ever really know. |

You mean CustomCamper, right.Sorry,I`m a big fan and I correct everyone.Especially the ones that call them CamperSpecial. It also bugs me to hear Custom 10 Deluxe,Cheyenne 10 Super, and SuperCheyenne.I`m just a jerk, you`ll see.BTW,welcome to the board and Longhorn Man`ll set you straight.

Re: Production Numbers 1969 Camper Custom
The box on my truck is the longhorn box. I thought I read some were that for every 5 chevys made 1 GMC was made, is that something I can go by or no. I am just trying to maybe find out a ruff number that I can go by it dosen't need to be exact, if you know what I mean.

Re: Production Numbers 1969 Camper Custom
Sweet!!!I like that.I was told by a guy that worked at the Baltimore plant about the every 5th one being GMC,which was the early`80s.That could vary from year to year,if it was a fact. That`s just that plant and it doesn`t speak for whick configurations or how many. It`s a crap shoot.

Re: Production Numbers 1969 Camper Custom
the other problem with that figure, does that include the big trucks too?
That is a sweet lookin rig there. it may well be wirth 4 grand... or more, if you could post up more pics... engine, under body, inside, the SPID (they were called spid from GM back in the day there gramps!) label... we could tell a little better. Any way around it, it's a good lookin truck from here. What do you think of the visor? I've considered one on my longhorn are those wheels 16.5's, or 16's? If they are 16.5's, they are worth a bit of coin. |

Re: Production Numbers 1969 Camper Custom
I just got the truck appraised for $15,000 dollars yesterday. The tires are 31x10x16.5. I really like the look of the visor on my truck and Im sure you would be happy with it too. I will try and get so more pics soon. Any info on GMC or chevy long horns would be great, Im trying to make a sign for car shows to explain to people what this truck is all about
thanks |

Re: Production Numbers 1969 Camper Custom
Did you check youngin`s Longhorn site?I like everything about that truck.I like real trucks #1,as wheel as neat little short beds, etc.Andy,I know you`re right. But,I never read that book and my old habits are tough to change. We never used to call then nothin`.Then, option sheet or thingy on the glovebox door or stupid thing that`s hard to get off to paint.I started hearing VIN-spec sheet from other vendors(I was once a small-time vendor)when you saw them being reproduced, circa 1990.Gary Terry(CheyenneSuperman)in Abilene sold me my first repro one because I wanted to keep my SPID(there!)intact on a rare truck that I was chroming the glovebox door on.Then,"DING!",I realized I should just chrome another and keep the door intact.I still have that VIN-spec sheet in the zip lock it came in.
I like the trucker look on the Longhorn...DOAH!!!!I mean CustomCamper. It`s not all tacky, just trucky. This is the Chevy CustomCamper/20 I saved the SPID on(hope no one`s tired of hearing about it):
