Look at this picture, the top of the notch closest to us goes up and to the right, the one farthest away goes down and to the right. I don't think I'm crazy. It shows that way in every single picture posted on the page. It's grossly obvious if you look at the shape of the notch closest to the axel.

they don't go "up" or "down" ... that's the side to side (right to left) variation of the frame rails right over the rear axle ... go take a peep under your truck ... no rise, just a side to side "offset" ... the frame gets more narrow once it passes the axle centerline.
what you are seeing is more or less an optical illusion due to the perspective point from where the pic was taken (from the side looking down). Last edited by Shane; 06-26-2007 at 09:50 PM. |

The problem with trying to create a bolt-in notch like that one, but for the 60-72 trucks, is the bend in the frames. It's one thing to press brake the metal on the side to follow the frame contour, however it'd be next to impossible to do with the all the bends that 60-72 notch would require. It's have to be a multi-piece kit press broke in several pieces, then welded together and metal finished. The problem we run into there is the time it takes to create the notch raises the cost up. Would be bonus if the kit included all of the bags, valves and mounts you need! That would be worth $2000-2500 for sure!! Since bags are only $75 each, it's not a stretch.

Well if you figure that the Porterbuilt currently starts off at $1,300 and most of our rear kits are around $1,250 then you're already at 2,500. There's still going to be more parts required to complete the vehicles suspension and air managment as well. Once we get the kit developed more and into production then we can work on combo set. That way we'll have all the numbers crunched and we can put together a killer deal for the component package. Then I'll do an air managment packs for customers as well to take care of them on that portion of the suspension.
People are already paying an over priced $1,699 for the ART rear kit that doesn't even come close to laying out, and has the worlds shortest pan hard bar ever made. Compaired to our kit that has have more lift, better bags, better ride, a Watts link rather then a pan hard bar, and will lay the truck out completely, there is NO compairson. This truck was laying sheetmetal like it was a road dot glue to the ground.

What size is that rear tire? Does the shock angle straighten out any at ride height? Are the canti and watts link bolt-on? I see they are welded. Four link pics? Where does it attach? Thanks -Chris

i highly recommend KP kits i've installed 2-3 of em' and they are by far the best quality on the market and the easiest to install. and they lay hard!! nice job clint looking forward to that porterbuilt project.

Agreed the kitlooks awesome. I have not installed any KP or Porterbuilt products but both look like incredible products and I believe that the two combined will make for a TOP NOTCH product!! When I build another one I think I will definetley go this route. Save a hell of alot f work.
I spent two weeks building my watts link and it was worth every second of time. Although I would say if I knew I could buy one I probably would have. My .02 |

hey clint how come you guys didn't just go with a cantilever system on one of your 4-link lits like the triangulated or parallel ones. Is there an advantage going with a combination kit like this versus a all in one cantiler/4-link system??? |

I am sure Clint will chime in on this as well... but my personal opinion on why they would set it up this way is for packaging purposes. By using a link that bolts to the outside of the rear frame-rails and houses the bag and shock combo, it makes all sorts of room for exhaust routing around the axle housing. It also gives a much cleaner look... less cluttered.
