Wiiw

Here's another what is it worth? 62 Chevy with 80K original miles with original paint and bed wood it is owned by a 81 year man that had the engine rebuilt about a 1000 miles ago runs and drives great. No rust except for the two spots on the lower front fenders. Here are some pictures to help.

Re: Wiiw

I think it is. From what I see, it seems to be factory automatic? That's a very nice 62.

Re: Wiiw

Do you think it is worth more than that. I don't know much about the 60-66 trucks I normally deal with 67-72. Is there anything that I should watch out for when trying to purchase?

Re: Wiiw

We think it would be worth more. That's a virgin truck, seems to have a known history. Things to watch out for are the common rust spots, lower fenders, rockers, floor. On this truck, it seems to be minimal...It's a hell of a find...

Re: Wiiw

Is the front suspension different on the 62 than on a 66? What year did it change.

60-62 was a torsion bar front suspension, 63 is when they changed to a coil front suspension.

well worth 3k from the pics, looks straight, bed looks good (fender wells, wood, OEM tire hold down), interior looks pristine for its age. factory OEM bumpers front and back, grille is pristine, west coast mirrors, deluxe heater controls, all oem knobs, factory radio, great find, especially if one was to keep it all OEM.

Re: Wiiw

That looks really nice, and well worth $3k, if not more! Factory auto with a 235 is pretty rare. I have a '62 myself. The torsion bar front end rides fine. You probably couldn't tell the difference between the torsion bars and a coil front end. The cool thing about the torsion bars is that you can easily adjust the height of the front end. If you're thinking about buying it, DO IT!

Re: Wiiw

Does this look like rust or bondo covered rust? Can you tell if the paint is different cars on different body panels?

Re: Wiiw

just get you a magnet and run it on the panel, you can tell if there is bondo there,, I agree, looks like the door and fender are a different shade, but still looks very good for that age!

Re: Wiiw

how's the under-body? That's what it would come down to for me.

As it sits now, I'd say its worth 3000. But if the floors are bad, I'd reconsider.

Re: Wiiw

that is a very clean truck. my truck is like that except its been through hell as a work truck. its been wrecked, i was looking a while back and realized that its been fixed. the inner fenders you can see where they were bent back into shape. to me.... that truck would be worth $2000, but thats because there everywhere where im at so there dirt cheep.
good luck,
John

Re: Wiiw

Great find, one owner pickups from this era are getting extremely hard to find.I would buy it just for being a factory automatic. The 60-62 frame and suspension are different than the 63-66, but still is very good. Also, the front left hubcap is the correct one.

Re: Wiiw

Nice original truck. Over here in England you could ask £4000 to £6000 for it. If the truck is a good drive and is up to the legal standards over here, most truck prices seem to be around the £4000 . That works out about $7500. Not bad eh!!
