Does anybody know this casting # ?

I found this pic on the internet. I'm trying to ID this motor so we can rebuild it. Ours is just like this one but it has 4.1 GM3 instead of 4.1 GM2. It is in a 71 jeep and we don't know if it's original.

thanks,
Dale

If I remember correctly the casting number is actually to the lower left of the picture, covered in grease or something...What engine is it...V8, V6, or I4?

It's a v6, we're just trying to figure out what parts to get for the rebuild.
The guy it came from said it was the original 225 hp but those parts won't work. I think it might be an 80's buick 250 but not sure.

Re: Does anybody know this casting # ?

Yeah it looks like the lower left eight digit number to be the actual casting number for the 4.1 litre motor. Like the picture below.

What kind of vehicle is this supposedly out of, the only car I know of that had the 4.1 litre would be the rear drive Buick Regals from the 80's. Also this might need to be moved to a different forum

Re: Does anybody know this casting # ?

That is a Buick 4.1 litre V6 out of an 1984 Regal.
