Maybe I AM an idiot
I posted on here a day or two ago about my engine missing under load. It was suggested that I either had a bad tank of gas or the fuel filter was dirty or clogged. I ran to the local parts store and picked up new fuel filter and some other goodies and changed it when I got home. Didn't fix it. Pulled a spark plug and it was full of carbon, so back to the store I go. Get home, start changing them out, and lo and behold, get to #5 cylinder and the plug isn't even on. Finished changing plugs and took it for a drive. Everything runs great. Anyway, at least I got a new fuel filter and a set of plugs out of the deal.

Nice to hear that it was something simple.
New plugs and fuel filter will not hurt anything though RJ22... |

Re: Maybe I AM an idiot
I just swapped out t-body, computer, dist., coil, map sensor on a blazer trying to correct a bad running problem. The next day I realized the map sensor hose was routed to the egr valve Never overlook the simple stuff

Re: Maybe I AM an idiot
Good job finding it.
A little drivability 101. I been fixing problems like yours since the 70's, for a paycheck. An engine missing under load can NEVER be a fuel pressure/volume problem. If you engine 'bogs' or hesitates and does not feel rough at the time, THEN it could be a filter or pump; something in the fuel delivery system. Think about it. If you feel a miss, it is likely dropping one or more cylinders. If there isn't enough fuel, how can it affect just one? All cylinders will get too little fuel and you have a smooth bog.
