Weatherstripping troubles

Im having some troubl with my weatherstripping on my 69 c-10 longbed. I recently installed new window felts and for some reason they are not flush up against the window. there is a gap of about 1/4 inchon the outside felt. These are brand new from classicparts.com. thanks for any input

Re: Weatherstripping troubles

Welcome to the board from West Michigan!

The doors can spread causing this problem. How wide is the opening between the outside half of the door and the inside half?

The felt sits flush with the inside felt...but there is about a 1/4 inch gap between the window and the outside felt

do you mean the window is flush with the inside felt and the gap is on the outside? I am to sure what you mean on that post. I have a gap on the outside as well that I am trying to fix, but I wasnt to sure you meant the same thing

I'm not sure where you mean either. If you are talking about where your arm would lay if your window is down there is a felt strip on the inside and a rubber strip on the outside. The rubber strip is wider and seals against the glass... How about a picture?

Re: Weatherstripping troubles

Welcome from sunny Seattle...well at least today. The outside is not a "felt" anti-rattle strip but a "rubber scraper" that is wider than the felt "anti-rattle" strip on the inside. Also check the metal spacer/bracket that is spot welded to both the inner and outer skin of the door to maintain the gap distance. It is located just below the wind wing so it does not interfere with the door glass when it is rolled down.

Good Luck.
