1965: First year for Custom Camper Option

Many believe 1966 was the first year for the Custom Camper option for the C-20, but it was actually introduced at mid-year in 1965.This package would include many necessary options for easier camper hauling. This is a magazine ad from 4-65.

Thats cool advertising, factorystock! The hand drawn artwork back in the early-mid 60's was hugely popular with just about every product, and I think had much more character than just throwin a photo in the ad.
Do you have a big pic of your avatar? I have a similar one of 69 GMC's and one from this era would be cool to add to my picture collection.

Thanks for the pic!---DAC

I have to agree with you. Those old advertisements were cool. Great artwork.

Those all are very cool guys! I dig old ads and all. Oh yeah, Joe thanks for that pic of all those purty new trucks being hauled to the dealer. Gotta love how ugly that tractor is! Sure would be ok with me to see this thread continue!

Thanks again---DAC

You're welcome. I figured you would like that old GMC rig. That's one of my favorite pics.

Re: 1965: First year for Custom Camper Option

Hey Joe I just noticed that "Nick's 66" was in Sioux Falls, so I have to assume that means South Dakota! That is clear on the other end of the state. Bring on some more! I know I don't have any ads for this era of trucks, so I cant help much.

Thanks again!---DAC
