surface rust

I lifted my carpet today and there is surface rust in the floorboard. What would be the best to treat this before it becomes a big problem.

thanks rickey

That’s debatable, most people here will disagree with the use of naval jelly (and it does nothing for keeping the rust from coming back).

Re: surface rust

Should I sandblast the area and prime the area. I just want to stay on top of it before I have to replace the floor.

Re: surface rust

When using RB you just need to scuff the area to remove anything that is loose, then brush it on. It’s that easy.

Re: surface rust

this is what i've used in the past many times. It's simple to apply and as an added bonus it WORKS. You can get it at any hardware store. The only color i've used is the black. Hope this helps. http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=159
