Gonna have to say goodbye!!

It was nice to meet people on here, and to help me out with situations. But unfortunately, I have to drive longer distances to college and I dont want to put my truck through the pain of long distance driving. I am selling my truck, and getting a more gas efficient truck. Im going over to Dodge because I will be working for that company as an engineer. Sorry if i let anyone down but you can watch my poor sale on ebay. Just look up 1972 chevy trucks an d youll see mine on there. And you may comment on how my setup and price if you want. I want to know what the consumer looks for so I can improve my sale. But I am sad about leaving my friends and my C-10.---Andy

Re: Gonna have to say goodbye!!

I can't say you won't regret it later on, but I know what it's like trying to commute to college with a guzzler. I had to sell my Black 86 GMC 4x4 SWB for an S-10 about 15 years ago to make the commute.

it sucks but you do have priorities and it looks like you made the right choice. Besides, these trucks are not going anywhere, you could always get another in a few years.

Dude, that's sad! But you are doing what you know is practical and can always get another truck once you get edumacated. What auto tech school are you going to?

Re: Gonna have to say goodbye!!

I already took my auto tech classes during high school (outside of high school). I have enough education to be ASE certified and I will be taking all 8 parts. So now I am starting college for a basic engineering major (doubt it will change) and I will be taking 2 years of community college for my general education classes and 2-3 years of my engineering classes. Its hard for me to prove my knowledge to employers in my field right now. It also takes a lot of fun away .---Andy

Hate to see you go.You don`t need to have a truck to come on here.Just like you don`t have to drive a Dodge to work for them.

Re: Gonna have to say goodbye!!

It's great to see you are going into engineering. The demand is amazing here in California, we can't find enough. I did the same thing with junior college (it took me five years) and then state college (three more) for my four-year engineering degree. The whole time I worked at a service station that allowed me to keep my truck maintained. Oh yeah, and I played A-LOT along the way.

Good luck, and don't worry , someone will hire you because they need what you got!

Re: Gonna have to say goodbye!!

Always sucks to have to sell something. I currently work for Carter Burgess as a mechanical designer, but would like to go back to school for my engineering degree. It all comes down to cost.

Cool! I know I dont have to drive a Dodge to work for them. I just think they are easier to work on. But I will definitely buy another 1967-1972 Chevy. But on this one it will be a catalog resto with all of the fun stuff added on.---Andy

I actually drive a dodge and I only get 13 mpg. It is only a dodge dakota too. Now it does have a 360 and posi so I can't keep my foot out of it.

I have worked for Chrysler for almost 31 years and I eat, breath, bleed Chevy.........I bought a small Plymouth car for better gas mileage and it has left me on the side of the road twice now.

Re: Gonna have to say goodbye!!

Ahhhh...Cape Cod in the summer. When the sun`s frying your brain up and down the cost and east to west you can find relief on the cape.July average temp:70 deg.and that`s not from dropping real low at night. It`s Maritime!Gotta love it.
I wish I had the foresight to have gotten into engineering.I was told how it`s alot of school, tough, alot of math, etc. by the neigh-sayers.I think it`s a field that`s either in you or not and I know, now even better, that that`s my type.I only blame myself, though.I just never made any career choice and ended up contracting and raising a family.Glad you`re going for it.But,seriously, isn`t this forum a great community?Even just for General Disco?

Re: Gonna have to say goodbye!!

Even if he doesn't he may someday and they will be just like the rest of us hearing all the stories of the cars and trucks dad used to have

BUT from all the extra money you will make from a good education you can hopefully have a better truck when it's all said and done.

Did someone say dodge truck and fuel mileage in the same sentence?
