finally have an actual truck!

i am new to the board and have only made a few posts. they were mostly about a frame and rear end for a 68 that i recently bought. i have been looking for a cab and bed for it. my neighbor heard about this and told me that he had a complete 68 w/o engine, trans, or interior. i asked him what he was lookin to get out of it and he told me 800. i figured that it was gonna be in sad shape as he said it was sittin in the woods. it turns out he was the original owner and just had it brought up from his home state of arkansas. this thing is perfect. he already blasted and sprayed it with a coat of primer. it has a few spots of surface rust from sittin out but other than that, it looks as though it is right off of the assembly line. it just amazes me that i was searching everywhere for one and this one was sittin 100 yards away from my garage the whole time. i will get some pics up soon. also if anyone could help me find the thread that the guy showed how to section the hood i would appreciate it!

Re: finally have an actual truck!

Board member Rokcrln did the hood section - but with a 1968 already - will you need to do it? He took his 1969 up hood to make it look like yours (pretty much).

Anyhow - good score. Get us some pics when you can.

And welcome to the board.

Re: finally have an actual truck!

i am from the newcomerstown area. about halfway in between marietta and canton on I 77. i am going out to pick it up on saturday. i will get the pics up after that. i thought that he chopped that hood down pretty low. i just look at the hoods for these trucks and can't help but think that they are horrible aerodynamically. i reallize that i am getting a truck and not a ferrari, but i want this thing to be respectable on the street and strip. how do these things handle at higher speeds? i plan on dropping it down with the air ride system. i also plan on chopping the top which should help. thanks for the replies!

Re: finally have an actual truck!

hey here are some pics of this thing. there is more to it and i will get some pics up of it when i get it home. yet this should curve you guys appetite for a while. some surface rust from settin out after getting blasted and primed. but i shouldn't have very much metal work besides chopping the top and shaving the door handles, side markers, etc(which will be more than enough). if u guys could let me know how you post the photos on here and not have to just give a link, it would be appreciated.
