Original power steering question

When I bought my blazer it had power steering so I just thought that it came with it but I looked to the sheet in the glove box and noticed it's not in there. I also noticed that the steering box in my truck only has two holes holding it to the frame and the other one does not line up properly. If I got an original steering box for this model year will it bolt up even though it did not come with it from the factory. I don't know what box my truck has in it.

Re: Original power steering question

If it is 4WD, it came with power steering standard or that at least is my understanding. As far as yours being the original one there I can't say. But when I gat home I will shoot you some pics of mine.

Re: Original power steering question

Weird, I was just wondering since it's not on the glove box sheet.

Re: Original power steering question

My 69 K20 originally didn't have power steering. I added a box off a 78 and I'm just about positive that I used all the bolt holes. I don't think I had to drill any new ones.

That's not true by any means.
Some older trucks (67-68s) didnt have the dimples in the frame and the frames were just flat but all the blazers because they are 69-and newer should have the dimples whether it had power steering or not.

Re: Original power steering question

Power steering was not standard. Yes the frame has the dimple for the power box. I put a '72 box on mine in February to get rid of the manual steering. From what I understand any GM truck box through '91 will bolt up.

You really need to swap that out to get more bolts holding that sucker on. The manual box only used 3 of the bolt holes, but the power box uses all 4.
