Dana 60 brakes
According to the guy who sold my buddy his 67 C20 (8-lug), he swapped in a Dana 60. I've briefly glanced at the pan, and it did indeed look like a Dana 60, but I can double check tonight. Anyway, how would a guy go about ordering brake parts for it? Are they stock brakes or off of something else? I've also been told that you need to pull the axles on this diff to change the brakes, is this true? If so will I have to drop the pan, or do the axles just pull out once unbolted from the outside?

Re: Dana 60 brakes
I assume your talking about the rear axle? If so parts from NAPA or where ever should be easy enough to get. Yes, you must pull the axles for a brake job, but not the pan.

Ah, yes, sorry I didn't say that it was the rear diff. Did these trucks come stock with a D60? Everytime I go to a parts place (Napa or otherwise) they always need make/model/year before they can search for stuff! I'm just wondering what truck this would have came off of so it won';t be a big hassle to get brake parts.

Re: Dana 60 brakes
Well I am guessing that it might have come from a 1ton, unless the spring pearches have been moved. Then it could have come from a ford for all we know.It would have to be 1973 and up. These trucks 67-72 in 3/4 ton came with eaton ho52 rears.

Re: Dana 60 brakes
Chevys had the eaton and GMCs had the Dana 60 rear. There is a few exceptions but thats the general way it goes..

Re: Dana 60 brakes
If you can get the BOM number off the axle tube, it will tell you the original year and application of the axle.
