Brake Proportioning Valve Question?
I know most serious 1st gen. 4x4 Blazer guys have converted to Hydro-boost, but I was wondering if any one has had any luck/experience with removing the proportioning valve or replacing it w/a universal adjustable valve?

Re: Brake Proportioning Valve Question?
I'm I correct to assume you are disk front/drum rear? My 69 K20 is drums all around and I did not add a prop valve when I swapped in the hydroboost. Works well for me but I'm sure if you are disks and drums you will need a prop valve. I think Burt4x4 has an aftermarket prop valve on his K5.

Re: Brake Proportioning Valve Question?
Nope I have the factory p-valve. I upgraded to the 1ton double diaphram booster/master combo, pictured above. Was a direct bolt in deal except I had to get new lines from the master to P-valve as the 1Ton setup plumbs opposite of the 1/2 ton setup. In-line tube sells the lines for like 25bucks. This setup DOUBLED my stopping power!! I can actuall lock up all 4 tires now! No way in H*** I could have done that with the 1/2 ton stuff. BUTT ~ now I have a D60 w/14FFdisk and I am only assuming my brakes will be the same as I have yet to bleed the new calipers/axels and test drive it but by Monday I will beable to tell you if this 1Tonsetup with factory P-valve works as good or not.... to be continued...

"Nope I have the factory p-valve. I upgraded to the 1ton double diaphram booster/master combo, pictured above." Ah, great minds think alike. On the left is a stock 71 blazer set up. On the right is a 71 one ton pickup set up. Working in a parts store sure has its benefits. Good to know it worked for you.

OR just have your local parts store look up a vacuum booster/master cylinder combo for a 71 or 72 1-ton full size 4x4 pick-up. Like Burt said you will have to make new brake lines, also the booster mounting studs are a little wider on the on the one ton, but the firewall brackets can be "massaged" to work.
