Multiple Projects Club.......
I just hauled home my team FRANKENSTEIN (phase 2...racin') project this last weekend. It's a short and wide 68. I will be seeking advice from everyone on this project, since it is my first 2wd. Also, it will be a street/strip BIG BLOCK unit, so suspension is a Big Deal. Also pictured is my 69 haul truck project. I plan on going with a flat bed and a Big Block. It has a Corp 14-bolt in rear, D44 in front, sm465, and a np205. The GMC stuff is for parts. And of course a pic of FRANKENSTEIN for good measure.

Nice looking starter! One thing to look at is the frame rails in the front. From what I understand some early 68's use the 67 style frame.. just food for thought and could affect planning. Good luck and good choice!

hard to tell from that angle.. easiest way is to go look at your 69 and compare. The 69s frame is narrower in the front and also has a dent for the power steering unit.

Looks all too familiar
I have a 72 GMC that I've had for 10+ years that has been a frame on restoration...see sig. Been to many car shows and a few drag races. Got me to and from school for the first few years of ownership and has given me something to do for the rest. Just got a 68 Chevy that's now stripped down to the frame to become an LS1 powered Pro-touring truck that I'll use to bracket race and show. Have a 99 Corvette that is my wife's daily driver and my current bracket racer Have a 96 Grand Cherokee that is lifted 6" on 33s, locked front and rear, winch, and custom built (by me) long arm suspension. 98 Trans Am...just bought for the engine/tranny (see 68 Chevy), but now I think I'm going to clean it up a bit and sell for a profit ($2000) to buy a different LS1 engine 90 Jeep Comanche pickup....my daily driver for now...bought it for $900 and stopped it from leaking oil and now it runs great Ah...I guess that's it...unless you count the 84 Winebego with a 454/TH400...but I don't |
