Talking whatīs the time?...

I found this on ebay: itīs an original clock from a ī78 Suburban!
Got it for 20 bucks.Today me and my buddy fitted it into the ī89 cockpit and it works!
I think this is very rare and you canīt buy it new like most other instruments!
Now iīd like to ad a factory tach but i havenīt found one yet!

That's pretty cool. Only problem with adding a tach now is where's your fuel gauge gonna go?

Re: whatīs the time?...

You sure thats really out of a 78 Suburban? I have the instrument cluster out of my old 78 Silverado and it's has the clock, but it's the 70's lettering thats on it and the rest of the instruments. That clearly looks like the 80's letter style and it seems to match up with your 89 gauges.

For the record though, that clock barely worked and eventually stopped all together.

Re: whatīs the time?...

20 bucks is a bargain for a working one. I've sold these as high as $100 for a working one. You scored.

Re: whatīs the time?...

If you want a factory tach, get one out of a medium duty truck, they only go to 4000 rpm, but the fuel gauge is built into the tach gauge

Re: whatīs the time?...

Hey fellows, took apart the clock to clean and inspect it and it is a beautyfull mechanical clockwork!
Works precisly like a swiss army knife and sounds like grandmaīs kitchenclock! Best of all its all metal even the pointers are metal!

Re: whatīs the time?...

Nice find. The local Chevy dealer here in Springfield still has some in stock. I found that out when I was looking for a oil pressure gauge, that they dont have.

Re: whatīs the time?...

That's a cool score. Can't beat nice original stuff. Is it NOS??

I bought my new '86 1/2 ton a few weeks ago, and was doing the usual "now that it's home I can really inspect it" deal. I never noticed the first time I went to look at the truck that not only does it have the optional clock...it still works and had the correct time! I about fell over. Here's proof, I took this pic today, at this time:
