3/4 ton to 1/2 ton??

I just took the spindles off the front of a 73 model c10 to put on my 70 c20 in order to convert to disc brakes. I thought all I needed to do was replace the ball joints with the 73 model ones. The upper ball joint fit fine but the lower unit just slipped right on through the opening. Any one know what I need to do in order to complete this swap?

Are you going to 5 lug or gonna stay with the 8. If 5, you will have to replace the lower control arm with a 1/2 ton.

Yes, I am going back with 5 lugs. Will the lower A-frame off of the 73 work or will it have to come from a 67-72 model?

Re: 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton??

Sounds like from reading another thread that the lower control arm off of a 73-87 model truck will bolt onto a 67-72 model truck. Can anyone tell me if this is true?

I'm sure it does on a 1/2 but I'm not sure the 1/2 will fit the 3/4 frame. Here's a TTT.

3/4t a-arms are interchangeable from those models. The differences are the steering stops and the brake hose mounting on the upper a-arms. Just take some measurements and you will be able to see if it will go in. Also check on the brake hose routing. You don't want to stretch a brake hose while you are turning a corner with your truck.
