custom door panels & flame headliner
Im wanting to make custom door panels for my 71. Im gonna cover them in gray tweed with billet armrests, billet door handles, chrome lights, and chrome pwr window switches. Has anybody got any ideas I could use as a base to make these out of. I just want them flat. The local upholstry shop has a waterproof cardboard but wants $50 sheet and get 1 panel from 1 sheet. Also I want to do a flame pattern headliner and need a base for that also.

Re: custom door panels & flame headliner
you could probably find that same stuff at a sign shop for less, or get a sheet of paneling

Re: custom door panels & flame headliner
I was going to do the same thing with mine, but just using my original metal panels as the base...

Not cheap, but we use UHMW at work, very thin and rigid

Re: custom door panels & flame headliner
masonite is pretty standard. i'd just paint it to protect from moisture. it's basically very dense cardboard.
