has anyone here ever used them in place of a factory light? and if so how hard were they to install? i have been thinking about using them for the cleaner appearance, as well as installing one ine the back of the cab either above the window or below.

any info fellas?

those look nice.how hard were they to install?? i have a fleetside, and was thinking about 2 seperate bars, one simply for brakes and another for brakes and blinkers.........then the third brake light above or below the window. more than likely below unless i go through with the plan to install a power window from a k5 blazer

It was all hand built... so lots of filing

There are kits available that should simplify the task though.

I'm contemplating a third brake light above the window done the same way but I'm concerned with how I will service the unit should I ever need to.

that is my concern as well, plus my truck doesn't have the headliner in it either, so i would have to fab some sort of cover panel to hide it inside the cab, that i don't think is a big deal however. as far as servicing of the unti, i had thought about using something similar to newer panel fasteners, like you find in door panels and such on late model vehicles, the ones that just puch into the hole and lock themselves, that way if the unit ever needed to be reaired or replaced it would be a simple matter of pulling the cover off to get to the lights............it is a thought???

Cargo light is easy. Just go to radio shack and get some small red lights or LEDs, drill some holes and wire them up to the brake pedal. You can even retain the white light function unlike the one offered in the aftermarket.

actually I do, but with the fundage so low, it is rather low on my list. Since the one ton isn't cut for the cargo light (yet) it isn't a pressing issue.

If going for a shaved look, I wouldn't bother with a 3rd brake light then, all it will do is clutter the sheetmetal.
