Was it the Heat??

Last weeked I was on a cruse with my truck and it was over 100 outside and my truck would fall on its face if you got on it real hard. Do you think that was from the heat??

Re: Was it the Heat??

Theres a possibility that it could be the heat man, Cooler Air is a lot more dense then Heated Air, and with Carb's you really have to tune for the weather conditions. I would say Very possible depending on The weather conditions where you normally drive it Vs. The weather Conditions of Where you drove it that day.

For example, when I moved to Arizona for a little bit, I dident notice much of a big difference because the weather conditions there were the same as here in Lancaster CA, But I did notice a little more power due to the fact that it was at a lower elevation then here (about 2000 ft lower) Also The gas seems more potent there, then here in CA lol.

Another example is when I drive down to Pasadena CA 68 - 72 Ish mile drive, but the Temperature Changes about 15 - 20 Degrees (gets cooler) and the Elevation Changes a good 2000 - 3000 Ft (Lower elevation in Pasadena), Humongous Difference in power, I usually Re-Tune my truck when I drive down there and stay for a few days, then Retune it Before I drive back up.

Humidity, Elevation, Temperature, Grade of Fuel and even Quality of Fuel all play big roles in our old school Pavement Pounders, so I would say yes. Heck I notice a difference in performance just by using different Brands of Fuel when I fill up.

Re: Was it the Heat??

I'd suspect a:

clogged fuel filter or
an unvented fuel tank,
or a bad fuel pump
Low Fuel level in the carb bowls.

Im betting fuel filter. But if its an old quadrajet, I guess you could check the accelerator pump.
