Are these worth savin'
-
I mentioned to my nephew a while back that my trim mower was on the fritz so he calls me and says he has a mower that he is going to drop off at the house on his way to the salvage yard. When he shows up he has some other stuff in the back of the truck including these. They are "new" 6.5x16's and are for an '86 Chevy truck. There are 8 of them with caps & lug nuts. The questions I have are... 1. Are they worth saving? I know 16" aren't very popular. 2. Will they fit the 67-72 GM trucks? Or will they be like everything else I save for 10 years and then scrap..... ![]() Thanks in advance for your input. LockDoc.

Re: Are these worth savin'
i think its the same size for 3/4ton trucks and the past few years more variety of 16" tires have bocome available so they aint the orphans that they were awhile ago//wait another 3 or 4 years and the kids will start calling the mid 80's stuff antique collectable classic rare etc then the price goes up

Re: Are these worth savin'
I wouldnt scrap them. They look like the type found on the 96-99 3/4 tons. They should fit a 67-72.

LockDoc
I would hang on to them as they fit fairly well on our trucks .Although they don't look quite like the standard 5 hole rally they will do in a pinch. I run them on one of my 3/4 tons and don't think they look to bad. Solver

Re: Are these worth savin'
'73-'87 truck, '73-'91 suburban will fit on the '67-'72. The wheel studs changed from 1/2" to 9/16" but the lugs should cover that. The spacing is the same center to center. The center opening for the spindle on the '67-'72 drum trucks is smaller than the next generation so a retrofit with a newer wheel works. They are a good looking stock wheel, low maintenance and pretty much bullet-proof. Don't trash them! I wish you lived closer, they would be a great set of winter wheels.

Thanks for the input guys... I have room to store them so that's not a problem. He also gave me 4 of these but I had to go and get them and do a lot of cleaning on them. A couple of them do have a little rust in the first step groove but they cleaned up nice & would look great on a driver. Makes me wish I had a 4 wheel drive.... ![]() LockDoc

Re: Are these worth savin'
yep...save 'em. Even if you don't use them you may be able to sell them down the road...or just scrap them 10 yrs. down the road. Just update the thread in 10 yrs. if that happens!
