Steering Column question

I am about to have a few things done to my '72 Cheyenne Super. I want to order a new chrome tilt column. The truck has power steering. Is there any way to know what size shaft and how many splines the old column has without taking it out first?

Re: Steering Column question

Someone correct me if im wrong but i believe all of the 67-72 chevy trucks are a 3/4, 36 spline shaft. I have a chrome tilit ididit column for my truck and it was the same part for all 67-72 chevy trucks.
