What did you get done? 07/15

Monday I finalized the deal on my wife's new daily driver. She was considering an 08 Infiniti QX56 but they Infiniti dealers wouldn't deal. GM was running a rebate program, so I went for their deal. She bought a black 07 GMC Denali XL. It's got a 380 hp 6.2 with every option but the engine block heater.

I was on call again this weekend. I'm taking the family to Corpus Christi next weekend so I let me service tech off. I had planned to pick up some parts for my 82 Blazer project, but the rain came and ended that plan.

Today I took my daughter out driving. She just got her learners permit and was anxious to get some wheel time in. She managed to keep all the chrome on my wheels despite covering it with mud from the construction.

The highlight of my day was cleaning out two clogged drains in my daughters bathroom. I just LOVE plumbing work.

Nothing truck related. I did start putting in our new oak trim (baseboards), and had a guy come over and hang 5 of our 7 new solid core oak doors. House renovations never seem to end.

Re: What did you get done? 07/15

I managed to go on a nice little cruise up the hill with my brother it was his first real ride on his bike that lasted for more them 5 minutes. He dident do too bad. We rode up to the Royal Gourge and went up skyline drive and back nice little ride. Got my fool self all sunburnt.

Finished up the 76 351W project good enough for now. This fNord has been driving me crazy but it made it back to Jasons house without catching on fire and I got a nice little check for my trouble. My neighbors were kinda getting tired of hearing open headers on a 400hp engine at all hours. I need to replace the alternator since it was kinda charging at 22 volts and install A/C but I need my garage to fix my van. I kinda miss my shop working from my garage sucks!

Went over another friends house and picked up my next project bike 78 Gold Wing 1100. He owed me some cash and is about to move down to socal so we fanagled some things to kinda pay his debt. Real clean bike but I'll stick to my Harley.

Re: What did you get done? 07/15

I spent the weekend @ the GoodGuys Columbus show w/my friends from Stoked Out. It was fun..... it was tiring.

I feel bad for them (I had time constraints & flew.... they're driving back to TX).

Re: What did you get done? 07/15

Ditto, spent all weekend in Columbus, seen a couple or later model trucks which snuck in, but what a show, I think we caught 8,200 on one of the entry numbers. Also partook in the flashlight drags over at National Trails Raceway, not a bad turnout. I bought a Kwik-Lift after looking it over for months, show special. www.kwiklift.com Also bought some flush mount LEDs for the rollpan on the stepper, I cut the holes in last weekend. Should look great once I get them in.

Re: What did you get done? 07/15

Saturday: Rewired trailer lights on the 79LB to be compatible with the ATV trailer.
Sunday: Replaced wiper motor in above truck. Proceeded to fix vacuum line for A/C controls in the 79SB. Of course it had to be the hardest actuator to get to--don't wanna mess with that again. Washed/detailed the SB, raked some leaves, threw a Ribeye on the grill and called it a day...

Re: What did you get done? 07/15

Friday I got some parts from the local salvage yard. a-pillars pieces from a Burb and the ECM tray. Plan to use the ECM tray for my 78 Jimmy's TPI conversion that I just started back on.
Saturday I started pulling the rest of the fuel lines off the Jimmy along with the pump and carb
Sunday I replaced the O2 sensor on the burb, changed the oil for the first time since I got it. While I was under there I discovered my shifting problem, the transmission plug was dangling down so I reconnected it, and I also found that the fuel sending line was crimped behind the transmission crossmember. I was hoping that would fix the sender problem, but it didn't.

Re: What did you get done? 07/15

I really didn't GET anything done.....
But I brought home a '62 GMC truck cab....I'm going to chop off the roof, cut 8" off along the bottom, narrow the entire cab 18" down the center, and modify the firewall with a '60/'61 hood.
It's going to be a 60's style showrod.........
