new stereo for me!

got the Alpine 9881

i picked it because its a lot like my stereo in my passat (alpine 9885) but just more toned down. if i decide to change them from car to car i can do that because the wiring harness is the same

also got a crossfire vr402 2x200watt amp to power my 5.25" component speakers in my qlogic kick panels so far everything sounds amazing! still need to purchase aftermarket 3.5" and 4x10" speakers to be driven by the headunit in the stock locations and my 10" sub and amp for sub.

Re: new stereo for me!

nice deck, but why spend the $$ on 3.5" and 4*10"s ? 3.5"s are going to distort before you ever hear them if you are powering your kick panels with an amp. Are you opposed to building a bracket for 6*9"s or 5-1/4"s in the rear? Your sound quality would be much better if you did. I'd run that two channel crossfire amp to the kick panels and your rears (I really dont use the fader option in any of the vehicles I've owned) Just my opinion, good luck

I was going to you the stock size stuff in mine only cause i dont want to cut any holes in my truck and i already have two 8 inch subs behind the seat with amp.

Re: new stereo for me!

With those 5.25 components in the kick panels, you won't really need the dash speakers. What I like to do when there are dash speakers though is set the balance mostly to the kick panels, and just give the dash speakers enough volume to where they add a little to the sound stage but most of the sound is still coming from the kick panels.

Re: new stereo for me!

haha, my truck has 27 year old factory speakers in the door panels, hooked up to the factory AM / FM cassette player, hows that for sound quality?
