Factory Tach Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Is this normal? I've been driving the truck for 5 years and just noticed that when it is shut off the tach is parked between the 0 and 5 . If it isn't can anyone tell me what the problem could be. I bought the truck with the tach in it although the truck didn't come from the factory with the tach option.

I think mine had an adjustment screw on the back ( been 10 years since I've looked at it)for calibration. I believe I struck a happy medium between correct calibration and zero reading when off.

yup, mine has the exact same problem. i tried tinkering with the calibration screw, but couldn't get it to rest at 0. perhaps there's another screw you might look for.

i'll be installing a new dash bezel soon, so i'll check to see if there's some sort of reset and let this thread know...

btw I adjusted mine as far down as i could (it started around 700) and REALLY threw the tach out of whack... be careful.
