Painted Grill
Has anyone painted a Chrome Grill? Pictures?
I saw a couple hazy pictures on the net but figured you guys might have better pics. My grill has got a few dings in it. Nothing real bad but even the smallest ding makes the grill look rough....at least to me. I was thinking since I probably aint gonna spend the cash to buy a replacement chrome grille, that I might could just have the body shop straighten up the dings, and even possibly bondo them and then paint the grille the body color when I have it repainted. Good idea? Bad idea? Here's a front shot. Notice how the top trim piece doesn't line up with the rest of the grille? |

Re: Painted Grill
yep
though I don't think paint sticks to chrome as well as bare metal. I think it would be best if the chrome was etched, or stripped or something.

Re: Painted Grill
That looks really good.
I'll probably go that route. What goes behind the grille? Mine has some expanded metal cut to fit behind the grille? It looks OK I guess, but I'd rather have something nicer. Are there billet inserts for those grilles? Easy install? |

Re: Painted Grill
Remember most of these grills from the factory are not chrome, just shiney aluminum. (annodized or something like that) You can just ruff it up good with a scotchbrite to get the coating off then, prime and paint.
