Carrier Bearing R&R
So I'm thinking I'd like to swap out the carrier bearing on my 2-piece drive shaft. The rubber in the hanger is completely worn.
Will I run into any issues (i.e. bearing seized onto shaft, etc.)? What are your experiences? |

Re: Carrier Bearing R&R
I've had some difficulty getting the old one off mine because it was stuck. I used a blowtorch and a rubber mallet if I recall.

Re: Carrier Bearing R&R
i wasted a couple days off a few years back wrestling around the garage with one.if it's in the budget,i'd call a shop and get a quote.seems like it was around an hours labor.better for me anyway than blowing a day off, those guys gotta eat too.

One interesting thing was that when I put the shafts back together, the splined shaft and sleeve at the joint of the 2 shafts was extremely hard to re-assemble. I actually ended up hamering it back together. I do not remember it ever being like this before. Not sure what was going on there? |
