Anybody have pics of a new style 3rd row Suburban/Tahoe seat in a 1st generation Blazer. I did a quick search but didn’t turn anything up. Do they fit or are they too wide?

That looks like it would be awefully tall in the back of a first gen blazer.

The 72 Blazer I got a few weeks ago has a suburban seat in the back of it... or at least that's what the previous owner said it came from. It fits good, but with no room to spare. However, it's not as new a style as the one you're looking at. Mine is out of about a 97 or so.

I don't know about the one you are looking at, but the one out of a 99 suburban will fit. I put the 3rd row seat from our 99 suburban in the back of the blazer and it fit between the wheel wells.

Hey crzng - That's what I wanted to do. How big of an ordeal was finding and installing the receivers for the seat?

Not a major. The pieces I got on ebay, $99 if I remember right. Measure, cut slots in the bed (be careful with lines under bed), and weld. Took total of about 5-6 hours at my friends shop. I'm going to take out the head rests to match my front seats.

Good info! The link that I posted at the top is for a Tahoe seat and it is split. Crzngmychvy's is out of a suburban and is a one piece seat, no split. The Suburban version would probably be much easier. This is definetly something that I will eventually do.

I used the brackets off my factory seat and welded them to this 87 suburban seat and used the factory holes.

I want to do the split rear seat as well. Couple of reasons, they have seatbelts built in, they make the cargo area very flexible, & it's easier to remove them when they weigh half as much. You can get the brackets for these on EBAY as well, but they're a little more money.

I have two seats, but no brackets, one from a 96 burb and an o5 Yukon (namely the one I rolled!) I intend to put one or the other in the K5, When I get round to it I'll probably put the original 72 on the bay!!

I have a set of 3rd row seats from my '01 GMC, I am also looking to install brackets in my '71 blazer for the same reasons listed above. I did some measuring, and it looks like the seats should fit in fine between the wheel wells. I have a 60/40 split bench from a 96 extended cab pick up that I plan on putting in the front. Now the question is do I pick up a second set of third row seats from ebay and have the seats from the '96 and the new third row covered to match, or do I have the seats from the '96 covered to match the third row seats I currently have in my '01 GMC and just use them in both vehicles as needed? Doesn't it all come down to money?

Do the floor supports for the seats weld into the cross members underneath? Did you fab some reinforcement under the bed? What's the deal? Maybe a pic? Definitely an idea I've been pondering. Has anyone attempted a tip & fold from a Jeep Wrangler? Another idea I've been pondering.

Sure...the way I see it if every time I come over I talk you into pulling just one more thing off your Blazer, i'll definitely be driving mine before you. So far you don't have a gas tank in it and your radiator is out (it's not my fault your radiator is out but i'll take credit anyways).

Buddy,

The one out of my 05 Yukon has the belts built in and it is a one pice. I understand your point about being able to pull one or both, but just wanted to point out that all new seats have the belts built in (except the second row, as they are mounted to the truck to allow flipping up of the middle row to enter back row!

I had a 60/40 bench in my blazer when I bought it & it didn't work very well. The passenger side bracket for the 60 seat was uneven, (the front of the bracket was higher than the rear), which made the seat not attach to the floor very well in that area.

You could probably figure out something to make it work. But it will definitely take some work. I just wanted to pass on my experience with those type seats in these type trucks.

i wonder if you could graft in the floor from a minivan or something, where the seats would fold down flush into the bed floor. that would be really cool, but i don't know if you'd have the frame clearance to do it. that would be way cooler than having to remove the seats. then, you could get the same kind of seats from a minivan that were buckets, but that folded down flat for the front seats. then you'd have mega camping/hauling room! (just thinkin' out loud...)

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but did anyone ever find a way to mount the Suburban/Tahoe 50/50 split 3rd row seats into the back of a Blazer? - Mine is a 70 K5.

I see people on Ebay selling 3rd row seat brackets, but I am clueless as to how they mount up and what else would need to be done to make it work. I have the seats already as part of a deal I bought that had included the front, middle, and these 3rd row seats, so I just figured if I could use them, I would.

Any help or suggestions on how to possibly mount these type of seats would be greatly appreciated. Pictures would be great if possible.

I ended up finding a second set of third row seats from an '04 Tahoe on CL locally for $300. So I won't be donating the third row from my GMC.

Has anyone fabricated some mounting brackets and floor supports or bought a set off ebay? Just looking opinons ways to install them and keep them safe and functioning.

I don't have any pics, but I did put a 01-06 one piece suburban seat into 71 Jimmy. I did it just for the 3 point seatbelts. I did see the brackets on ebay, but I went to a large wrecker and bought the floor out of a 01-06 for $100. I got to do the locating measurements at home. The two outer brackets in the rear are very close to the frame (less than 1 inch above) so it is a tight squeeze. so far I have welded the brackets to the floor, but I am going to add some support for strength.
