Show off Your Pole Barn .............

Have Ran out of Room with current Shop size & am looking into a Pole Barn, Am Thinking about a 30x64x12 Configuration. Plan on Locating behind my Current Garage with a Breezeway type of adjoining the 2 Together.

Will that height allow me to have a Lift? Has Anyone built along that size & what did it cost? What are area's of concern that u wish u would have had built ? Pics would be Nice................

That looks huge compared to my metal shop (24x30). Always love seeing folks shop/barn/garage.

Mine is just the ol garage, 20 x 20, no shop here yet

The shop we are planning to build in the spring is 32 x 40
and it will be attached to my 20 x 20, plus it will have an
underneath storage under 1 end of 16 x 32 = 2192 Sq Ft.

I had this barn built last year. Not pole, but very similar by "Cleary" after losing pole barn to 100mph windstorm. 30x50x12. 2-6' sliding doors in end for 12' opening, 1-10' sliding door in corner + walk-in. Cost $16,400 erected w/no floor. Just use for storage for son's future projects now. We have another barn like this 30x56x12/w 2-12' sliding doors in the side for 24' opeining for shop. Sometimes wish for a 14' wall if we need to put something tall inside, but for general shop work, it's a good size, and easier to heat.

I have a 40' x 64' with 12' sidewalls. When I was planning on mine, everyone told me GO AS TALL AS YOU CAN. I went with the 12 foot sidewalls instead of 10' thinking that was good enough. I regret not going to 16' on the sides.
It is cheaper going up compared to going out. You can put in a room or two and have loft storage on top without crawling thru the trusses.

I agree, Taller walls also allow sheds to be added on the sides for additional storage. I've kicked myself for not making the new shed at least 14', since my son has a road truck now.

T and I are building our new shop with 16' sidewalls to accomodate the Atlas Pro 12 lift from Greg Smith Equipment in Indy. He sells other lifts that will fit under a 12 foot cieling. But if you want a lifted truck you should at least check out the AP-12.

Thanks for the Link & Tip on Lift, Since u are in Indiana fairly close what kind of pricing are u running into on your Building? Are u doing the build or hiring done? What total size are u going with?

I have a buddy in Shelbyville, IN that is building that size. He thinks that he will be around $10K but he is doing ALL work himself and has taken about 2 years+ to do it. He is an ex concrete guy...

Thanks for the info, I wish Health would allow me to do the Work myself, I did all the wiring on my other Shop which helped a lot. With that Knowledge i will know what need's added to the new one.

Previous owner of my house had that Shop Built to be a Machine Shop, Which would explain the Foot Thick slab on the Main Portion. I'm thinking about tearing off that addition on the Front & Making it so that i can be able to make approach to be able to drive into the Shop, Currently have to set up Ramp's to Drive in the Shop.

That was only one of many Dumb things that he Did, No wonder the Bank repossed the Property from him.............

I agree you should be able to get a lift in that barn. Add a loft to the rest of it to gain storage... Good luck..

40 x 80 x 17H with a loft..bedroom, bath, kitchen. I have been building it for 6 years now. It now has a 9K lift, tire machine, wheel balancer and a small machine shop.

Ours is just a 2 story 30x30. We were severly limited by or lot size and town ordinances on how close you can build to property lines. It's not a pole building, and now we are considering block wall on the whole 16 foot first story. We contracted most of the foundation and concrete work out, but plan on doing the rest ourselves.
