Steering Column and auto tranny Q's

Whats up, Fellas? Since this pic was taken, I lowerd it another 2" and put low pro tires on it....Mistake! She'll be back up a bit soon! I am rebuilding my 65 and need a little advice. So far, It's got a mild 350 SBC, A Muncie 4 spd with 3;73 gears. My Clutch is shot and I need a freeway flyer gear which I dont have. I am considering an Auto swap. My questions are which one? A TH350, 400, 700r4? Shift kit? Linkage? shifter? crossmember issues? drivelength issues? Money is a concern and I only want to do this once.
Theres a fella selling a 98' auto tilt column and a 97 non tilt steering column in my local paper. I desperately need to upgrade my column regardless. Can I use one of these? and how does the linkage work pertaining to my application?
Thanks in advance!
