Need help with bleeding new brake lines LONG
Ok here is the deal. When I reinstalled my 350 the engine swung out (and snapped like a twig I may add) the brake line going to the front brakes. I have replaced it with one from inline tube. Here is the issue. I started at the pass side front. I pushed the pedal 10-12 times and when loosened the bleeder valve nothing happened. Just old fluid. So I snugged it back up. Pushed 10-12 times more and finally clean fluid.
Then I decided to let it gravity bleed for 5-10 mins. Barely moving. So I snugged it up again. Pushed on the pedal 10-12 times and opened up the drivers side. Talk about a flood. It blew the hose off of the bleeder valve. So I snugged it back up pushed 10-12 times and loosened. Got a bunch of air. I repeated process until I got all of the bubbles out and clean fluid. I then went back to the pass side and opened it up. Same issue there. Fluid barely coming out even when I push on the pedal. Now for the question. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Re: Need help with bleeding new brake lines LONG
Are you pedal bleeding by yourself? If you are bleeding brakes by pumping on the pedal, you need an assistant to pump the pedal then hold pressure on the pedal while you loosen the bleeder screw. The pedal will bottom out to the floor. Tell you assistant that when that happens DO NOT let up on the pedal. That will suck air back into the line. Once the pedal bottoms out (when they tell you its on the floor) close the bleeder. Then the assistant can let up on the pedal and start pumping again. Repeat that until clear fluid comes out of the bleeder. Be sure to watch the level of fluid in the master cylinder.
There are two other options for ya too. One, buy a vacuum bleeder from a local auto parts store. They're somewhere around $30. You can bleed by yourself then. Or find a pressure pot. I don't know how much they run. I've got a mechanic buddy that has one that I borrow.

I gave this a shot and problem solved. Also one thing I learned is that you need to loosen the bleeder valve with the HOSE UNATTACHED. What was happening was that when I loosened it the tension of the hose would tighten it back

Glad you got it fixed. Sometimes brakes can be a real bear.

Don't really know much more about the power steering other than what has been described on the other post.

Re: Need help with bleeding new brake lines LONG
if you spent $25 on a service manual they tell you in depth how to bleed braks and how to fill and purge a power steering system thats the old school way
