Chopped Top....
Hello, Has anyone done or have had done a chop on their truck? Is it very expensive, and is it hard to get the glass made for the chop? I have a 60' with a wrap around windsheild and was thinking that might be hard to get fitted. If any one has pics of their chops I would luv to see them. Help me out gang with some suggestions and advice......Thanx--Ray

Re: Chopped Top....
Go over to http://www.covell.biz/ and get the chopping and sectioning DVD. it explains it very well. As for the glass. I have seen where some have cut theirs at home with a die grinder and some type of coolant.
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=86789 I havent done it but it doesnt look that hard once you see the dvd and read the howto. |

Re: Chopped Top....
i think that our style of trucks with the top chopped looks friggen awesome. been thinking of having it done to mine, but being in the navy and my upcoming deployment/detachment schedule i don't have the time or the funds to have it done let alone having some of the major rust holes patched like the lip right above the windshield, the inner rocker panel and my lower cab corners. my question is where can i get a grill like the orange one?? mine's a little bent outta shape as some of you have seen or can i get mine reconditioned??

Re: Chopped Top....
With what I know about chopping tops, the '60-'63's would be the most difficult to get the windshield cut and fit due to it being a wrap around. I would say find someone reputable to cut your glass first, and then chop the top.
