O.D. of 72 350 oil filler tube? Need grommet.

Does anyone know for sure what the diameter is of the stock oil filler tube on the 72 small blocks? I need to come up with a grommet so I can fit it to the new valve covers that clear my rollers. If anyone has a suggestion for a particular grommet or source, I will appreciate that also.

PS - I would have just measured mine, but it is 300 mi. away, and I need to get a head start on parts chasing.

Thanks,
Mike

Go to the local Chevy dealership. It is the same grommet on the 73+ vans that also use an oil filler pipe. I think mine cost a few bucks when I got it 2 years ago.

FOUND IT! This is the part number on my receipt for a grommet. #10108402 and it cost $3.90 See if that is the right part number.........

Many thanks!! I'll call them in the morning. These dealers here have so much business with newer vehicles I don't think they even try on the older stuff. Funny though, when I give them a part # they seem to come up with it.

Thanks again.

Naturally. They didn't have to strain theirselves looking up the
part number. Don't want to bother with the nickel-and-dime stuff. I've been trying to find a 3/4 inch grommet for a heater cable through the firewall. No luck.

Thanks again da-burb. That part # changed the situation from "no longer available" to "I have six in stock, I'll send one over."

Simply amazing!!!

I will relay the thanks to my wife. If it wasn't for her filing all the receipts for my 71 burb it wouldn't have been so easy to find.
