Question/opinion about tow hooks.

Lets say that you had a set of the rare 72 only extreme bend tow hooks, would you sale/trade them or keep them and put them on your truck.

If you vote to sale/trade them, what would you trade them for(67-72 partwise).

I am looking for realistic opinions here. You will not hurt my feelings one way or the other.

Re: Question/opinion about tow hooks.

I had a pair of 67-72's, and decided I wouldn't hang two hundred dollar bills from the front of my truck so I sold them. Of course the 72 only's are worth a bit more, and I would have sold them in a heartbeat.
What are you doing? I think it would be fun to have a truck with a ton of options, but that isn't what I was going for on that one so I let mine go.

Re: Question/opinion about tow hooks.

I would sell them.I don`t get it anyway.I like the 69-72 better. And,if the hooks aren`t listed on the option sheet, why pay crazy money to have factory original?I`d trade for the 68-72 hooks that havr a better function and get some coin or other parts in the balance.Or,Ebay them for cash ans buy what you need.

Re: Question/opinion about tow hooks.

71SWB4X4 - Not sure yet if I will sale. I am building a truck that I have quite a few options for. Some rarer than others.

Longhornman, tavenner13 - That thought has run through my head a few dozen times.

1969K10stepside - I do have the correct year hooks to put on my 4X4. Just can't decide which ones I will go with.

Special-K - I understand what you mean by it not being on the options sheet. In fact, most people that will see my truck probably won't know the value of most of the options I will be putting on my truck anyway.

Oldchev4X4 - I am not really a big fan of yuengling anyway. However, you may be able to persuade me with enough bottles of Jack Daniels.

Re: Question/opinion about tow hooks.

It is only a matter of time before someone has exact reproductions made in China and sells them here or on e-bay for $50. a pair. There is really nothing that unique or special about original 72 tow hooks that a forge couldn't pop them out by the hundreds and once that happens (and it will) then originals will not be worth significantly more then the reproductions.
So keep them if you like them, sell them if you don't, or wait for the inevitable to happen. Chrome Bezels for the dash used to be over $100 about 10 years ago and now you can buy all you want for $25. Same kind of thing is happening with emblems, bumpers, console's, etc.

Re: Question/opinion about tow hooks.

if you need the $$ for parts for your truck then sell them and use the money on your truck, i just put a set on my blazer, i know if i get in a bind then i can always sell them, as i got 2 sets and only 10 bucks in both sets, they are not eating anything...

Re: Question/opinion about tow hooks.

I would sell them. Staple some $100 bills to the wall and see how you like that. I can't justify it. I guess it really depends on the use of the truck. I use mine and can't see the point of hanging them on the front and using them when some cheaper ones will do the same job.

I agree with jaime, if you NEED the money for more important stuff, sell them. i have two sets myself-one set on each truck-and like you, i'm in to options. both my trucks are loaded with options, tilt, tach, am/fm, speedwarning, vacuum guage, buckets, shoulder belts, toolbox, aux. fuel tank, bumper guards, posi front and rear, chrome rear bumper, cargo tie downs, bed rails, etc.

Re: Question/opinion about tow hooks.

i guess the only logical thing to trade them for would be a stack of bumpers to replace your bent ones with becauseyou hooked the chain on the bumper cause you didn't have your hooks anymore

Re: Question/opinion about tow hooks.

I'd sell 'em. My Suburban wasn't ordered with 'em(since it has had a 300lb winch bumper on the front since new) so I wouldn't see any point in keeping 'em.

Re: Question/opinion about tow hooks.

I don't really need the money right now so I guess I will keep them for now.

You might see them for trade or sale later.

Thanks for all the replies

Re: Question/opinion about tow hooks.

They`ll still be worth more than repros if they even make repros.Factory original is always worth more than repro. These aren`t like trim where a new repro looks better than an old factory piece.
