4x4 Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I was wondering if the frame rails were the same on a 60-66 2wd and 4wd. Obviously they are running different suspensions but as for the rails themselves... I have a 1983 Chevrolet 3/4 that would make a great donor truck but I don't want to swap bodies. I would rather swap suspensions and keep a semi original frame and no body blocks. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have been wondering about the same thing. I know the 60-62 frames are different from the 63-66. But I think the 4x4 frames from 60-66 are the same. I'm also wanting to change the suspesion on my 61 4x4, I think maybe the easiest way would be to take the shackles and spring hangers from the donor frame and bolt them to your truck.
