Re: stock master cylinder with disc brakes...

You need waaaay more fluid volume to move the piston in a disc brake caliper than a drum brake cylinder. The disc master cylinders have a lot larger front reservoir to move more fluid

Re: stock master cylinder with disc brakes...

yep. But you'll have to split the lines, and the front lines to the discs are smaller than the rears. You just need a dual reservoir MC with a prop valve.

I've got the same situation. Mine seems to stop ok, but I've only driven it about a block (off road) - you really have to mash on the pedal though. There's usually master cylinders and brake boosters and proportioning valves off of S10's on ebay. I'm thinking about getting one of those and seeing if it will work. Here's an example. Would this work?

It should work. You can use up to 87 if you want. You will need the porpotioning valve also. If you can go to the yard you can just take the valve off of a 70's chevy truck along with the front brake lines and they work just fine. I took one out of a 75 and set it in my 65 to see if the line already bent would work and it fit like it belonged there. You will need to run lines from the master to the valve. I have a tube bender and double flaring tool..
