Bench seat rebuild?
I am about to rebuild (new cover and foam) my original 71 bench seat.
I took the old cover off and found some stuff that I don't know if it should go back in there when reassemble the seat. In addition to the cushion there was 1. A thin layer of foam between the cover and the cushion. 2. A thin layer (actually two layers on driver side) of foam under the cushion. 3. A carpet between the cushion and the springs. 4. An extra cushion stuffed in the spring on the driver’s side. I suspect this is an attempt from a PO to “rebuild” the seat. I wonder if any of these should go back in or if I will be good with just the new cushion?

Re: Bench seat rebuild?
I suggest ditching all the old fixes and going with new!
I redid my seat recently and went with new foam and new cover, had a upholstery shop stretch the new cover. I like it, but one thing I wasn't counting on was the stiffness of the new foam, I sit about 3" higher than I used to, which I don't particularly like... hopefully it'll break in. |

Re: Bench seat rebuild?
Thanks for the reply BigSky71.
I already have a new foam and cover and the new foam didn't come with anything else but the foam cushion, thats why I started wondering if there should be something else to go with it when I found all the extra stuff.

If I was a paying member I could offer you a black seat that is almost like new.
