New 68 4x4 burb guy from CA
Just wanted to say hey to all fellow old burb people on the site!
My burb is a almost completed frame off restored 1968 3/4 ton 4x4 Suburban. Just finishing up the details. Hope to talk with people that have similar trucks! Thanks! |

How long has this project taken me... Well, thats kind of a hard question. Being that as soon as I was old enough to turn a wrench my Dad made me (as a learning experience of course) take care of the family truck, then I got older and the family split apart in different directions.
My Dad did manage to hold onto the "old truck" as you can see from a pic I took of it rotting away in a avocado grove the day he gave it to me, that was I think 1997 and I cleaned it up and drove it for a while as is. From there I always knew I would never let go of the truck, and decided to do a major restoration on it since it did have a lot of rust and neglect. 1999 it went into a shop and had the body removed, rust repaired, the frame blasted & painted, while I built the engine, and had the transmission and transfer case rebuilt. 2001 I got it back and since then I have been hunting for parts on ebay and swap meets that no one carries at resto shops, now a days those parts are coming available... Between then and now I have had a few job changes, money issues, women issues, family issues blah blah blah... Still managed to hold on to my baby though! This year I am vowing to get her into a show, and take her on that long road trip I have always wanted to do when everything was taken care of. Thats about as short as I can make my restoration time line story for ya! :-) |
